SMAS Worksafe Schemes offer a fast, efficient and cost effective way of demonstrating your Health and Safety competence and gaining a nationally recognised (SSIP) certificate.
SSIP recognition
As a recognised Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) scheme, your SMAS Worksafe certificate will be recognised by all other SSIP members– meaning that you should not have to complete further full Health & Safety assessment questionnaires for SSIP members (details at www.ssip.org.uk)
Many Clients will now only use contractors and consultants selected from an approved database who have demonstrated the appropriate level of competence in their H&S management systems and they look to the SSIP logo as reassurance that the assessment meets the stringent criteria set by the CDM Regulations 2007.
No hidden costs
The full SMAS Worksafe Contractor assessment costs just £120 + vat (£140 + vat for the SMAS Worksafe Consultant). This includes:
- A copy of the SMAS Worksafe certificate
- Free use of the SMAS Worksafe logo – whilst your certificate remains in date
- Inclusion on the national SSIP database
- Visibility to all of the SMAS Clients via the SMAS database (see below)
Fast and straightforward processes
SMAS will help you through the assessment process at every stage, providing easy to complete forms guidance notes and a telephone helpline. Many applications pass first time but if for any reason you do not meet the criteria we will provide guidance on exactly what additional information is required and will re-assess the application at no further cost provided the additional information is provided promptly.
Assessments will normally be completed within 3 to 5 working days.

Reducing Duplication
If you already hold a current SSIP scheme certificate and you wish to be visible as an approved contractor on the SMAS database, you simply need to complete our brief verification form, confirm you current SSIP accreditation, and provide copies of your current insurance documentation. Once verified you will receive a SMAS Worksafe certificate and the Worksafe logo. There is a small administration fee of £25 + vat for this service.
