About Us
SMAS Worksafe is one of the UK’s leading providers of full form SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement). We are a Health & Safety Assessment organisation that takes great pride in our professionalism, customer service and efficiency.
As one of the UK’s leading health and safety accreditors, we work with a variety of major organisations across the UK and have developed experience and expertise in new build construction. We also deal with many other construction organisations including those in the Education and Care sectors.
As a dedicated H&S assessment company we do not get distracted by other activities such as H&S Training or Consultancy. This means that you can be confident that there is no conflict of interest in any of our assessment decisions.
All of our assessors are qualified H&S professionals, have completed the SSIP Assessor Training and are audited annually by an independently appointed SSIP Auditor.
We have developed our own software to manage our Contractor database which means that we process work smoothly and efficiently. Allowing technology to manage much of the routine work means that our staff can concentrate on talking to contractors, guiding them through the process and exceeding their expectations.
All of our assessments are undertaken In-House allowing us to offer a consistent standard across assessments. The minimum standards we assess against are clearly set out in the SSIP Core Criteria. The skill of the assessor is to interpret the information provided and ensure it relates to the nature and scope of the business being assessed.
We’re part of something bigger…and you could be too
SMAS Worksafe are part of The Citation Group and work closely with these companies to offer our members a wide range of quality support services spanning the length and breadth of the UK.
The Citation Group ensure that not only will our members be sure of their compliance, they can be assured of the same high level of customer service.
SMAS is a proud member of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Forum.
Since the launch of SSIP, many Clients and Principal Contractors now adopt an SSIP approach to H&S pre-qualification and will only use contractors who hold a valid and in date certificate issued by an SSIP Member Scheme.
Holding a valid SSIP Member Scheme certificate means that a contractor has demonstrated their capability by meeting the SSIP ‘core criteria’.
A key aim of the SSIP Forum is to reduce the burden and cost of H&S bureaucracy across the construction industry and as part of this, contractors holding a SMAS H&S certificate will be recognised by the other Member Schemes who offer mutual recognition – meaning that you should not have to complete a further full H&S assessment with them.
