Countryside Timber Frames choose SMAS Worksafe
SMAS Worksafe are delighted to announce that Countryside Timber Frames have chosen SMAS Worksafe as their stage 1 health and safety pre-qualification scheme of choice. All Countryside contractors will now be required to hold a valid SSIP certificate issued by SMAS Worksafe to be engaged in any of their construction projects.
Launched in 2003 Countryside Timber Frames (originally Westframe) was conceived in response to the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) 1998 Egan Report, ‘Rethinking Construction’, which challenged the construction industry to create quicker; to build, more energy-efficient, environmentally friendly and more cost-effective housing.
Chris Woodward-Biddle, Commercial Director at SMAS Worksafe had this to say on the news of the announcement; “SMAS Worksafe are delighted to support Countryside Timber Frames providing Supply Chain Management, and H&S accreditation services. This partnership cements our ongoing commitment to safety within the construction sector and we are excited to work with Countryside Timber Frames, helping them maintain their already high standards.”
Dan Roberts Senior Operational Safety Inspector at Countryside Timber Frames added “SMAS Worksafe is a well-known SSIP Accreditation scheme. Signing up to them provides a lot less work to do from the contractor when tendering new business. The PQQ documentation for Countryside can be quite time consuming but having SMAS Worksafe membership reduces the requirements significantly. Why go through a long-winded process every time having to evidence H&S competence when SMAS Worksafe can keep track of and manage for you.”
