About us
Smas Worksafe is one of the UK’s leading providers of health and safety assessments and a national leader in providing full form SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement).
Having been established since 2006, we’ve gained a lot of experience in the field of health and safety and we’re experts at helping businesses manage their health and safety obligations. We understand that keeping on top of health and safety and all that this entails can feel overwhelming, which is why we made it a priority to ensure we have a highly qualified team on hand to help make the process as simple, and smooth, as possible. To show our commitment to this, we ensure every assessor completes the SSIP Assessor Training and in addition, they are then audited by an independently appointed SSIP Auditor.
Feel Supported
We believe that our members should feel fully supported at every stage of the process and we have made it our mission to build a culture with a “support first” ethos, which is why we are committed to providing our members with full access to personal support from one of our professionals at every stage.
Regarded as one of the UK’s leading health and safety accreditations, we have built a reputation for providing our clients with excellent service, high quality support and expertise and we work across a range of industries including construction, education and care.
Our customers and their business matter to us, and we know that health and safety is a crucial part to their success. It’s for this reason that we have worked hard to create our own industry leading software to manage our customers databases and why we insist all our H&S assessments take place in-house, to make certain we always provide a consistent standard.
It’s through our commitment and dedication to providing unrivaled support and value to our customers that we have been able to build many long term working relationships, including a number of national housebuilders, and we are proud to report 95% of our customers return every year.
SSIP membership
Smas Worksafe is a proud member of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Forum, of which we are also a founding member.
Since the launch of SSIP accreditation, many Clients and Principal Contractors now adopt an SSIP approach to H&S pre-qualification and will only use contractors who hold a valid and in date certificate issued by an SSIP Member Scheme.
Having a valid Smas Worksafe SSIP Member Scheme certificate is highly beneficial – it means that your business has demonstrated its capability by meeting the SSIP ‘core criteria’.
A key aim of the SSIP Forum is to reduce the burden and cost of H&S bureaucracy across the construction industry and as part of this, contractors holding a Smas H&S certificate will be recognised by the other Member Schemes who offer mutual recognition – meaning that you should not have to complete a further full H&S assessment with them, saving your business both time and money.
Our Clients
Putting our client’s needs first is at the core of everything we do, and we understand that when you first come to us, our Smas Worksafe Contractor Management Programme may be something you’re not fully familiar with. It’s for this reason we have a skilled team available at every step to answer any of your questions and they’re also there to help provide a smooth transition.
Our skilled Account Management team will ensure a seamless migration to the Smas Worksafe Contractor Management Programme and make adopting our SSIP approach to health and safety simple and easy for any business, whether a one-man operation or larger scale set-up. Our team will completely remove the burden of in-house assessments and help you to:
- Communicate the benefits of SSIP to contractors.
- Provide real-time reporting so you can monitor progress and identify contractors “at risk”.
- Communicate the benefits of Environmental and Quality management systems to contractors.
- Creation of individual regions that can be easily assigned to individual teams within your organisation.
- Provide training on use of our online portal.
- Provide any additional support as and when required.
